About us
We got in touch with the art of Indian glass bead embroidery through a social project. Back in Berlin the idea came up to convert this traditional embroidery method into modern, coded patterns.
Manakaa means "bead" in Hindi and Project because we are more than a fashion label. In addition to the diverse aspects of sustainability in our production chains and materials, we also have a social concern. We want to make those visible who are involved in the product - especially the embroiderers and weavers - and appreciate and support them financially.
For this purpose we are founding partners of an Indian foundation that equips and modernizes the village school in the production site of our embroidery and silk. We want to support the familys by offering their children better future prospects and at the same time optimizing their working conditions.
Manakaa Project follows the principle of slow fashion. We produce in small editions regardless of the season. Furthermore, we only add selected pieces and new color editions to the collection.
